The Ministry of Roads and Highways has denied claims that some persons with disabilities (PWD’s) engaged by the Ministry to sell tickets in the toll stations across the country have been sacked.

This was contained in a press statement signed by Mr Edmund Offei-Annor, the Chief Director of the Ministry on Tuesday June 9, 2021.

The host of class FM’s morning show, Mr Kofi Oppong, claimed, that persons with disabilities (PWD’s) engaged by the Ministry to sell tickets in the toll stations across the country have been sacked by the private company, Tolls and Routes Management Limited (TRML) which manages some of the toll stations on behalf of the Ministry.

“We wish to catergorically state that the claim by the host of Classs 91.3 fm morning show, Mr Kofi Oppong is completely in-accurate, unfounded and without basis” the statement said.

According to the ministry “there are currently one Hundred and ninety (190) Persons with Disability engaged by the Tolls and Routes Management Limited, and Ninety Eight (98) Persons with Disability engaged by the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) in the collection of tolls at the Toll Stations all over the country”.

Out of the 38 toll stations in the country, Tolls and Routes Management Limited is managing 20, whiles the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) is managing 18.
