North East Region: 9 dies after heavy rainfall
The Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) , Mr John Kwaku Alhassan, has confirmed the death of 9 persons, four males and five females in the North East Region.
The death has been occasioned by the heavy downpour in the area.
The deaths occurred in Janga in the West Mamprusi municipality; Tamboku in the East Mamprusi municipality; Najong Number One in the Nakpanduri district, and Kunufor in the Chereponi district.
Graphic online reports that “Three of the deceased were struck by thunder and lightening; one when the boat he was using to cross the White Volta capsized while two were swept away when they tried to cross a river during a downpour. Three others got drowned in a stream while swimming”.
