4 Dead, 5 Suspects Arrested Over Bawku Killings


 Five persons have been picked by the Bawku Municipal Police Command in connection with the killing of some four persons in Bawkuin the Upper East Region.

This follows sporadic shootings on Monday, May 9, 2022, reportedly claiming four lives, three males and a female.

The Bawku Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Simon Peter Akabati confirmed the arrest on Wednesday May 11, 2022 on 3Fm.

“We are still investigating because we don’t understand why these things are happening”.

“We suspect it could be a reprisal attack and four people killed; three males and one female”.

“Five people have been arrested and we are arraigning them before court this morning”.

He has therefore called on government to intervene and buy back illegal guns in the possessions of civilians in Bawku and its environs.

The Commander believes that the government intervention is the surest way in solving the incessant killing of innocent people with guns in the area.
